I'm Kim Ravn.
I'm originally from Denmark, but I have been living in Belgium since 1990.I also lived about a year in France before I came to Belgium.
I used to work a lot with ceramics earlier, but the last years I have been working with monumental art, happenings and small art projects. I really enjoy when people participate in a project. I have invited people to come to my home to work on a project with me, but I have also visited people at home for some works; for example when I baked my breads.
A work gets another dimension when several people are involved in it.
In Denmark I went to a "folkhighschool" for a year. It's a sort of school where you live in a community and where you have an intensive education. I followed courses in ceramics and graphics.
In Belgium I went for 2 years to the academy of arts in Ghent and 6 years to the academy in my hometown, Zottegem. I worked for a few years in "the free academy of Ghent" too. Also known as " de toverdoos". When I lived in France, I followed a course in throwing pots by a ceramist in Auvergne.
I live in the village Velzeke in the council of Zottem in East Flanders.
In my work I'm inspired by the people around me and by the micro-worlds we sometimes just pass without realizing how beautiful and esthetic they are.
There are still so many beautiful things we can enjoy and create.
